Introductory Post

Hello!

My name is Brittany Morgan, and I'm from Preston County, WV.  Currently, I'm teaching English to 6th and 7th grade at South Preston School, which, funny enough, is where I went to Middle School!  I am also a student in the Digital Media, Literacies, and Learning Program.  So far, I have taken the following courses:

  • EDUC 6812:  Technology, Leadership, and Change
  • EDUC 6814:  Game Design and Learning
  • EDUC 68301:  Research in Education
  • EDUC 6809:  Teaching in the New Media Age
  • EDUC 6816:  Information Architecture (aka Curriculum in the New Media Age)
This semester I am taking Programming for Learning (EDUC 5099) and Advanced Educational Technology and Media (EDUC 6305) in addition to this course.

As with all the courses I take within my program, I always look forward to learning more about teaching and using technology.  Now that I have a classroom (currently, at least) to test out the things I learn, I'm even more excited!  I can't wait to get started!

  1. Brittany, I'm so excited to have this class with you! I'm happy to hear you're doing well and teaching English at your alma mater. I have considered getting certified in English to give myself a better chance of landing a full time job. I am also in the Digital Media, New Literacies, and Learning program, but this is only my second semester. I am always excited to learn new things as well, especially when they involve new strategies and technologies to use in my future classroom. :) Have a great semester!

    1. Hey, Hannah! I'm glad to hear that you're doing well, also! I decided to get my English certification after I spent some time teaching in a Middle School, and found I enjoyed it. It is very difficult finding a job in Social Studies (there are so many of us!). I hope whatever you decide works out, and I hope you also have a great semester!

  2. Hi Brittany. I enjoyed watching your Animoto. I also have animals (furbabies) that I love. I am also a short person so I know your struggle with that. This is my second semester in the Master's program. Which was your favorite class so far? I hope you have a great semester.

  4. #shortgirlprobs - I can so relate! I keep an extra chair in the classroom to climb on when no one's around. I'm also a Middle School ELA teacher-it's an interesting age to work with.

    1. I do that, too! I have to stand on a chair to even write on the top of my board. My kids enjoy picking on me for my fight, especially those that happen to be taller than me (of which there are many)! Middle School is definitely interesting, but I love working with them.

    1. It is great to be working where I went to Middle School! It's interesting to work with some of the teachers I had when I was in Middle School, but also working with others who graduated and came back to teach as well. It's exciting! I hope you have a great semester!

  8. I too have a dog in my life. His name is Jethro. And he does make me smile, but didn't make my video. He is a cross between a Blue Tick and a Tree Walker Coon Hound. He rescued me!
